SERVICE 05 · GLASS & ADAS CALIBRATION

Auto Glass & ADAS Calibration in New York's Capital Region

Windshield replacement with safety-system recalibration.

THE WORK

Glass & ADAS calibration at Eastern Collision Group.

On most vehicles built in the last decade, the windshield is a mounting point for the camera that drives lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking. Replace the glass without recalibrating that camera and the systems still switch on — they are just aiming at the wrong place, which is worse than having them switched off, because you are trusting them.

We replace the glass and then recalibrate, either statically against targets in the shop or dynamically on the road, depending on what the manufacturer specifies for your vehicle. You get documentation showing the calibration completed, which matters both for your safety and for the paper trail on an insurance claim.

The same applies after body repairs that move a radar sensor or a bumper cover — anything that changes where a sensor sits relative to the road needs to be recalibrated, not just reassembled.

FAQ

Questions we get about glass & adas calibration.

Why does replacing a windshield require a calibration?
Because the camera that runs lane keeping and automatic emergency braking is mounted to the glass. Even a few millimeters of difference in where the new windshield sits changes where that camera is looking, so it has to be re-aimed to the manufacturer's specification.
How do I know whether my vehicle needs ADAS calibration?
If it has lane-departure warning, lane centering, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking or a camera visible behind the top of the windshield, assume it does. Give us the year, make and model and we will confirm before any work starts.
Will my insurance pay for glass and calibration?
Comprehensive policies in New York commonly cover glass, and carriers increasingly cover the required calibration as part of the replacement. We bill it directly and document the procedure the manufacturer requires.
